Central University of Himachal Pradesh Recruits Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor Posts in 2010
Employment Notice No. 003/2010
Appointment To Faculty Positions
Applications on the prescribed form are invited from the eligible candidates for the  following posts shown against the discipline to be filled up on regular basis:
I. Professor(S):
1. School of Business and Management Science: 03
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
i. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in Master’s Degree in Business Management / Administration / in a relevant discipline or consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in two year full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / recognized by the AICTE / UGC; OR First Class graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant/ Cost and Works Accountant / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory bo+dy.
ii. An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline from a recognized university or fellow of IIM or institution recognized by AICTE and declared equivalent by AIU and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
iii. A minimum of ten years’ experience of teaching / industry / research / professional out of which five years must be at the level of Reader or equivalent excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree.
iv. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in UGC Regulations for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2010. OR
v. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following shall constitute as essential:
1. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in Master’s Degree in Business Management / Administration / in a relevant management related discipline or consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in two years full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / recognized by the AICTE / UGC. OR First Class graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant / Cost and works Accountant / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body.
2. The candidate should have professional work experience which is significant and can be recognized at national / International level as equivalent to Ph. D. and twelve years’ managerial experience in industry / profession of which at least eight years should be at least at a level comparable to that of Reader/Assistant Professor.
vi. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: i) Teaching, Teaching, research, and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;
ii) Published work, such as research papers, patents filed / obtained, books and / or technical reports;
iii) Experience of guiding the project work / dissertation of PG / Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry;
iv) Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research, industrial and / or professional activities; and
v) Capacity to undertake / lead sponsored R&D consultancy and related activities.
2. Professor of Economics: 01
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
A . (i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers. (ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
(iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process.
(iv) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in UGC Regulations for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2010. OR B An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.
3. Professor of Social Work: 01
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
A (i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers. (ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
(iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process.
(iv) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in UGC Regulations for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2010. OR B. An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.
4. Professor of Mathematics: 01
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
A. (i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers. (ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
(iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process.

5. Professor of Library Science: 01

(i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers. (ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.

6. Professor of English: 01
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
A. (i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers. (ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
(iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process.
(iv) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in UGC Regulations for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2010 in Appendix III. OR B. An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.
II. Associate Professor:
1. School of Business and Management Science: 06
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
i. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in Master’s Degree in Business Management / Administration / in a relevant management related discipline or first class in two years full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / recognized by the AICTE / UGC; OR
First Class graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant / Cost and Works Accountant / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body.
ii. Ph.D. or Fellow of Indian Institute of Management or of an Institute recognized by AICTE and declared equivalent by the AIU.
iii. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position or professional position at managerial level equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
iv. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in UGC Regulations for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2010. OR
v. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following requirements shall constitute as essential requirements:
1. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in Master’s Degree in Business Management / Administration / in a relevant management related discipline or first class in two years full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / recognized by AICTE / UGC. OR First Class graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant / Cost and Works Accountant / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body.
2. A minimum of ten years experience of teaching industry / research / profession, out of which five years must be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent excluding the period spent for obtaining research degree. The candidate should have Professional work experience, which is significant and can be recognized at national / international level as equivalent to Ph.D. and ten years managerial experience in industry / profession of which at least five years should be at the level comparable to that of lecturer / assistant professor.
vi. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable:
a) Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;
b) Published work, such as research papers, patents filed / obtained books and / or technical reports; and
c) Experience of guiding the project work /dissertation of PG / Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry.
2. Associate Professor of Economics: 02

i. Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines. ii. A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).

A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
iv. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students.
v. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in UGC Regulations for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2010.
3. Associate Professor of Social Work: 02
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
i. Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.
ii. A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
iii. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
iv. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students.
v. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in UGC Regulations for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2010 in Appendix III.
4. Associate Professor of Mathematics: 02

i. Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines. ii. A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
iii. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.

5. Associate Professor of Library Sciences: 02
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
i. Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines. ii. A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
iii. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
iv. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students.
v. 6. Associate Professor of English: 02
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
i. Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines. ii. A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
iii. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
iv. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students.
v. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in UGC Regulations for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2010.
III. Assistant Professor:
1. School of Business and Management Science: 09
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
Essential:
i. Consistently good academic record with First Class Master’s Degree in Business Management / Administration / in a relevant management related discipline or first class in two year full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / accredited by the AICTE / UGC;
OR
ii. First Class graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant / Cost and Works Accountant / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory bodies.
iii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET. However, candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
Desirable:
iv. Teaching, research, industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;
v. Papers presented at Conferences and / or published in refereed journals.
2. Assistant Professor of Economics: 03
Essential Qualifications As Per UGC Regulations 2010:
i. Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET. However, candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.

General Instructions & Essential Information:
1. The university reserves the right to withdraw any advertised post at any time without assigning any reason. The right is also reserved with the university either to fill or not to fill any or all the posts and its decision in this regard shall be final.
2. Mere eligibility will not entitle any candidate for being called for interview.
3. The university reserves its right to place reasonable limit on the total number of candidates to be called for interview.
4. Stringent criteria may be applied for short-listing the candidates to be called for interview.
5. Minimum requirements of qualifications and/or experience can be relaxed in respect of exceptionally qualified candidates by the screening/selection committee with the approval of the Vice Chancellor.
6. Higher initial pay may be given to exceptionally qualified and deserving candidates.
7. Applicants not found suitable for higher positions may be considered for lower position in the same area of specialization.
8. Minimum qualifications will be as per UGC Regulations, 2010.
9. Relaxation of 5% marks will be provided at the Master’s level in the case of
SC/ST/Physically Handicapped candidates and to those Ph.D. degree holders, who have passed their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
10. Reservation Policy will be followed as per Govt. of India Rules, wherever applicable. The SC/ST/OBC /PH candidates are required to attach necessary certificate(s) on prescribed format.
11. The process of selection may be by a written test/ presentation/ interview or a combination thereof.
13. The service conditions including pay band and age of superannuation shall be as per UGC rules/norms.
14. The applicants serving in Government/Semi-Government organization/Public Sector Undertaking/Autonomous Organizations must send their applications “Through Proper Channel.” The applications received without the recommendations of the employers will not be considered. However, an advance copy of application may be sent followed by the original application through proper channel.
15. Candidates shall have to produce original documents at the time of Test/Interview.
16. Canvassing in any form may lead to cancellation of candidature.
17. Incomplete applications or without relevant supporting enclosures (attested copies of degree/certificates/marks sheets/ experience certificate, etc) will be out-rightly rejected.
18. Selected candidate may be posted at any place in Himachal Pradesh and in any department of studies. OSD (Admin) Central University of Himachal Pradesh.
How To Apply:
Application should be accompanied with a non-refundable demand draft of Rs. 500 / for general category and Rs. 125 for SC/ST and handicapped candidates drawn in favour of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh payable at Dharamshala. The application duly filled in the prescribed form must reach in the office of the Vice Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Post Box No.21, Dharamshala, District Kangra – 176215, Himachal Pradesh on or before 27th January, 2011. Applications received after this date shall not be considered. University will not be responsible for any postal delay.
Application Fee:
Rs.500/- for general category and Rs.125/- for SC /ST /PH candidates. University reserves the right to consider and invite exceptionally suitable candidates in absentia.
